Recently, Mr. Yoon Hugh, Chairman of Carpa Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Company, attended and delivered an important keynote speech at the international seminar titled “The Role of Vietnamese and Korean Lawyers in Supporting Investment and Business Activities of Korean Enterprises in Vietnam.” The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Bar Federation and the Korean Bar Association.

The seminar served as a high-level forum gathering legal experts, representatives from government agencies, and business leaders from both countries to discuss and identify solutions for improving the investment environment and removing legal hurdles for the influx of Korean FDI into Vietnam.

Speaking as the head of a Korean enterprise with extensive experience and dynamic operations in the Vietnamese market, Chairman Yoon Hugh represented the business community to share real-world challenges encountered during business operations. In his keynote presentation, he candidly pointed out several bottlenecks regarding administrative procedures and current legal regulations, including:
- Prolonged trademark protection process narrowing market opportunities: Delays in issuing trademark registration certificates not only directly impact the launch timeline for new products, but also pose significant risks to intellectual property protection against infringement.
- Inconsistent tax incentive policies complicating financial planning: Current guidelines regarding goods and services eligible for tax reductions still contain ambiguities and lack specificity, leaving businesses confused when planning and optimizing operating costs.
- Obstacles from sales promotion registration procedures reducing business proactiveness: The current approval process for trade promotion programs needs substantial simplification to help businesses remain flexible and respond promptly to dynamic market stimulus campaigns.
- Pressure from validity term regulations on FDI business licenses: Time limitations on operating licenses for foreign-invested enterprises inadvertently create barriers, impacting long-term investment commitments and development strategies in Vietnam.
Chairman Yoon Hugh’s recommendations received keen interest and high appreciation from the executive board, as well as lawyers and experts at the seminar. These insights were recognized as valuable, practical perspectives contributing to the refinement of the legal framework and fostering a fair, transparent business environment—thereby expanding opportunities for sustainable economic cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea.
